Stefan Proynov:
Bulgaria is the first in Europe to produce counterfeit antiques
Counterfeit antiques and items are made for fraud and millions of dollars are earned annually. Two masters of counterfeit antiques are caught every few years, and then they receive light sentences.
Then they continue to engage in their occupation.
Stefan Proynov, an expert in the tracking and tracing of counterfeit antiques, says there are no strict laws in Bulgaria and the mafia and power are in a criminal scheme.
In Bulgaria, making replicas is not forbidden, but selling them as genuine is forbidden, and so counterfeit antiquities make their way to Europe and the world.
